    Love in all its facets inspires this programme. With “The Perfect Match,” Lucienne Renaudin Vary and Félicien Brut tell stories of passion and longing. At its centre is Fabien Waksman’s work of the same name, composed especially for the two musicians. The piece is complemented by music by Bizet, Bernstein, Piazzolla, and others, in arrangements for trumpet and accordion.

    27th European Jazztival

    The “European Jazztival” is the annual highlight of Elmau’s jazz program. Over six festival days, major jazz stars, outstanding ensembles, and exciting newcomers transform the atmospherically illuminated concert hall into a vibrant meeting place for the jazz scene. Alongside Europe’s top musicians from Germany, England, Sweden, Norway, and Poland, artists from the USA and Israel will also be performing on the Elmau stage this year.

    “Four in the jazz Olympus”, wrote the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung” about the first studio album by “4 Wheel Drive”, and the “ZDF Heute Journal” reported on “four first-league jazz musicians with a pure joy of playing". For four months in a row, the album was enthroned on the podium of the official German Jazz Charts.For four consecutive months, their debut album held a podium position in the Official German Jazz Charts. Now the four jazz musicians return to touring, appearing at Schloss Elmau — long since a second home to them.

    Igor Levit - Artist in Residence 2026

    Igor Levit is considered one of the most innovative and versatile pianists worldwide. The New York Times calls him one of the "most important artists of his generation," while the Süddeutsche Zeitung describes him as a "stroke of luck" for the concert scene. He consistently places his art in the context of societal events, understanding it as inseparably linked to them. As Artist in Residence in 2026, Levit shapes this year's concert program at Schloss Elmau with six piano recitals. For his first double evening, he focuses on selected Beethoven sonatas.

    Chamber Music Week has been at the heart of Schloss Elmau’s cultural program since the 1950s. The 72nd edition, marking the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death, places a special focus on his great chamber music works: the cello sonatas with Daniel Müller-Schott and Francesco Piemontesi, the violin sonatas with Viktoria Mullova, and the string quartets performed by the young and award-winning Leonkoro Quartet.
