    2023 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Russian composer, Sergei Rachmaninoff. He, like many other artists, had to leave his country and take exile in another. Displaced artists and longing for their home are the focus of the week, with the music of Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Dvorák, Heifetz, Kreisler, and Syrian composer Kinan Azmeh. Eight concerts and a lecture bring to life this subject, with the voices of these artists as well as the music that they longed for and which shaped them.

    For three days, cello star Gautier Capuçon will hold public masterclasses and concerts in Schloss Elmau, to which all guests are welcome to attend. He works with the aspiring professional string players and pianists on great chamber music works. For the opening concert, Gautier Capuçon himself will play a concert, considered the benchmark by his numerous students as well as his international audience. The other concerts will be performed by the students with the participation of Capuçon. Samuel Parent will play the piano.
