    Shostakovitch: String quartet No 8
Original compositions for string quartet and guitar

The Vision String Quartet, founded in 2012, is currently turning the classical concert world upside down with their unique ability to “walk” between the classical string quartet repertoire and their own compositions from genres such as folk or pop. Now the four young musicians from Berlin have teamed up with the Iranian-Australian guitarist and composer Mahan Mirarab, who for many years has been working just as intensively with indigenous music from Arab countries as with compositions from classical music, jazz and pop. The artists will present some of the new compositions that have emerged from this exciting collaboration following Shostakovich's 8th String Quartet.

    Grigory Sokolov piano

Concert with interval. Concert-experienced children aged 10 and above, who can sit still during the concert, are welcome to attend.

The unique character of music played live is a crucial aspect of understanding the expressive beauty and compelling honesty of Grigory Sokolov's art. His poetic interpretations, which come alive with mystical intensity in the concert hall, are based on an in-depth knowledge of the repertoire. His programmes span the entire history of music: from transcriptions of sacred polyphony of the Middle Ages and works by Couperin, Rameau and Bach, to the Classical and Romantic repertoire and key compositions of the 20th century. Now Grigory Sokolov returns to Schloss Elmau – with what is sure to be a compelling and impressive concert evening.
