Und Lieder, die von Komponisten in Konzentrationslagern geschrieben wurden oder deren Komponisten dort starben.

    Wie bedankt man sich angemessen für einen Preis, der einem zunächst aberkannt worden ist? Wie erklärt man Amerika kurz nach der Wahl Donald Trumps seine Liebe? Was sagt ein Deutscher mit iranischen Wurzeln über Auschwitz? Welche Worte bleiben am Grab des eigenen Vaters? Und kann ein Kölner objektiv bleiben, wenn er über den 1. FC Köln spricht? Navid Kermani scheut in seinen großen Reden keine Herausforderung und fordert damit auch seine Zuhörer heraus, sich von bekannten Denkmustern zu lösen. In seinem ureigenen Spannungsfeld von klassischer deutscher Literatur, islamischer Mystik, amerikanischer Gegenkultur und europäischem Geist findet Kermani immer neue Gedankenbögen, die auch den Leser bis zur letzten Zeile fesseln. So beseelt spricht gegenwärtig kein zweiter Deutscher zu uns, taktvoll und provokant zugleich, mit Pathos, wo es angemessen ist, und in einem Rhythmus, der fast schon Musik ist.
